KINSFOLK'S CHICAGO FOOTHOLD
On November 14, 2004 and June 16, 2005, Kinsfolk performed at the Folk Cabaret Night venue of Bill's Blues in Evanston. On both occasions, the room was filled with friends, family, and the friendly regular customers who have taken a liking to relaxing on Sunday evening with folk music. The Chicago folkies didn't let us down; they were a great listening crowd and good folks to sing with. So how did a blues club end up with folk music on a Sunday night?
About two years ago, Bill's Blues decided that they needed a change of format for Sunday evenings; something down to earth, but not loud and not running late. They decided to try folk music. Through contact with Cooper, Nelson, and Early, they lined up a venue of folk performers and gave it a try. It has worked out quite nicely. Distinguished performers from the Midwest and all over the country signed up to perform. Those who have performed there, including Kinsfolk, will vouch for it as a wonderful venue. The community likes their formula advertised as "Two sets of music and a full night's sleep." A happy clientele is pouring in between the hours of 7-10 to relax and charge their batteries for the oncoming week.
